In 2007 Shelby American brought back an iconic name to the muscle car market -the Super Snake. During the 7 year run of the S197 based GT500, the Super Snake evolved into an increasingly powerful player in the performance market. These cars are now legendary, and with the death of Carroll Shelby, introduction of the S550 Mustang in 2015, and the end of the GT500 era, we’ve all been left wondering what the future would hold for such hallowed nameplates.

We’re happy to report that the Super Snake is back. Based this time around on the Mustang GT, the new Super Snake will offer the best handling in the badge’s history, along with big horsepower. This will also be the first Super Snake available with the option of a manual or automatic transmission.

By working closely with our partners at Ford Performance, Weld Racing, Michelin, Carbon by Design and Whipple and Kenne Bell superchargers, the 2015 Shelby Super Snake is an amazing car with world-class performance.

The new Super Snake will take full advantage of the S550 chassis, and offer performance suspension enhancements from Ford Performance. A Ford Performance supercharger is standard with optional upgrades to a Whipple or Kenne Bell planned. Stepping up the supercharger package should push power output to 750 hp or more according to Shelby American. 20 inch Super Snake specific wheels manufactured by Weld Racing exclusively for Shelby American are also standard, as are Wilwood 6-piston brakes to enhance stopping power.

Shelby American says it will produce 300 Super Snakes per year, and we imagine most will fall into the hands of wealthy collectors.
