Team Z Motorsports is now offering pre-bent and notched ’79-’93 Mustang weld-it-yourself roll bar and cage kits to the home fabricator. If you’ve ever looked at one of Team Z’s cars and thought “I’d like to have a cage like that”, but the shop wasn’t close enough to your house to take advantage of their legendary build quality, now’s your chance. 

There are a number of options available so that you can order a kit and either weld it in yourself or have your local fabricator do it for you. An eight-point pre-notched kit is only $850, with a number of options available to fit your particular needs.

They are offering rocker bars for an additional $150, and torque box bars and plates for an additional $125. This turns the kit into a 10-point installation. In addition, you can order a trio of triangulation bars for an additional $150. Each kit uses eighth-inch-thick steel 6-inch by 6-inch plates for mounting, and if you have minitubs (or plan to buy Team Z’s), you need to let them know at the time or order as the rear down bars are specific for that installation. Installation of this cage will get you NHRA-legal all the way down to 8.50 elapsed times.

Through-the-floor subframe connectors are also available for an additional $225 charge, and freight is not included, as the charge for that depends upon your location.

The prices apply whether you wish to order a mild-steel or chromoly-steel kit – the price is the same.
