While there may have been a few setbacks for the Ford GTs racing in Le Mans qualifying, the team is ready to race. Ryan Briscoe, driver of the #69 GT, as well as Richard Westbrook and Scott Dixon, took fifth place in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this week. Likewise, the #66 Ford GT came in eighth place, as well as the #67 in ninth and last year’s winning #68 in 12th position.

“The guys gave it their best shot,” Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance, said. “We were sitting in first place for a little bit, but at the end of the day we didn’t have the speed so we’re going to see if there’s anything else we can do with our setup and get ready to race on Saturday.”

However, Ford says all four GTs are meticulously prepared for the start of the 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours, which takes place today. Moreover, thanks to Ford Performance, you’ll be able to view the entire race live from inside the race cars and the garage.

“We definitely had a go at qualifying tonight,” driver Ryan Briscoe said after qualifying. “It was the first time we ran with new tires and low fuel and we’ve always found this car comes alive when we drop the fuel out of it, so it felt great. The balance was nice. We got one of those good laps at Le Mans where you get a tow and don’t get held up with any traffic and piece it together. I was really pleased, but obviously there’s a lot of competition. It was quick at the time but we’re fifth now so I think it’s going to be a tough race and hopefully we’ll have the pace to stay at the front during the race.”
