…Our relationship with Ford Performance Parts solidifies our commitment to the racing and enthusiast industry. — Bill Gryzenia, AxleTechIf you aren’t full aware of the nuances of Ford’s latest pony cars, the 2015+ Mustangs are equipped with a Super 8.8 rearend, which is similar to the storied 8.8-inch rear, but dimensionally larger and beefier.
This means the modern rearend only accepts a Super 8.8 ring and pinion. Until now, only the factory ratios of 3.55 and 3.73 were available via Ford Performance Parts.
That all changed when the factory’s hot rod division turned to US Gear, a brand of AxleTech International, to manufacture a 4.09 Super 8.8 ring and pinion gear set, which opens up the possibilities for modern Mustang performance enthusiasts.

While the 4.09:1 gear set is exclusive to FPP, US Gear will also offer two other ratios for the Super 8.8 — 3.73:1 and 3.91:1. All three of these gearsets will be offered in a standard finish or the optional Lightning Series superfinish (see sidebar).
