The fabled Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., one of the iconic facilities of drag racing’s yesteryear, served as the host to the inaugural Flowmaster NMCA WEST Street Car Nationals Series two weeks ago, featuring some of the finest heads-up doorslammer racing action on the West coast amongst some of the toughest competitors in the country battling it out for the distinction of hoisting the very first NMCA WEST trophies.
Greg Seth-Hunter headed up the list of inaugural winners in the Pro Street category with his turbocharged Ford Mustang. Seth-Hunter was joined by True 10.5 winner al Jimenez in his leaf spring-equipped ’72 Camaro, Drag Radial champ and new class record holder Kevin Young in his ’86 Camaro, N/A 10.5 champ Daniel Bott II, and Outlaw 8.5 winner Eric Gustafson in his ’69 Camaro.
As they do at each and every NMCA, NMRA, and NMCA WEST event, the Fastest Street Car and Race Pages Magazine staffers captured and compiled some great video highlights from Bakersfield, including the qualifying and eliminations rounds in the professional, heads-up eliminators, True Street, and index and bracket categories.
