If you’re reading this then you obviously have a love of Mustangs, horsepower, and having a little harmless fun with your Mustang. You probably also have a friend like Dave. Dave’s not a car guy, he’s never ridden in a Mustang or any kind of muscle or sports car in his life. Dave is probably the kind of guy that sees cars as appliances, they serve a purpose, they cost money to use, and when they break you either fix it, or go get a new one. Dave is what makes this video so entertaining.
Dave has a neighbor named JD, and JD recently sent us this video of him taking Dave for a ride in his GT500. Like most of us JD is a Mustang fanatic, and this GT500 is his weekend toy, that he’s taken some time to modify in both the horsepower and appearance departments. There’s a long list of mods but the nuts and bolts of it is this:
- TVS 2.3 ported supercharger
- 2.5″ pulley
- ported elbow
- 90mm idler pulley
- JLT 127mm cold air intake
- L&M 66mm TB
- BBK Offroad xpipe
- Borla mufflers
- 4.10 gears
- McLeod RXT clutch
- Stock injectors and pump.
Those mods are good for 683whp and 653wtq from this 2008 Shelby. Dave climbs in the passenger seat and JD takes him for a drive around some local roads where they can have a little fun. JD never lets the car get out of hand, instead he seems to drive smartly, only getting on the throttle hard when no other cars are around, and only briefly enough to demonstrate the blown and modded 5.4’s power.
Needless to say we’ve all probably done this at some point to a Dave in our own lives, and some of the looks are priceless on his face as JD mashes the throttle and gives his neighbor a thrill he’s never experienced.
Sometimes rides like these influence people enough to convert them into fans of the cars, other times they walk away thinking we’re all a bunch of disturbed individuals with a death wish. It appears Dave enjoyed the ride, and after JD demonstrates control he stops being frightened, and starts talking about how awesome it is. Looks like we have another fan on our hands.
