For the last several years, Ford and its parts division, Motorcraft, have given away new Mustangs as part of the Mustang 5.0 Fever sweepstakes. The more things change, the more they stay the same, as the contest has returned this year with a new prize—a 2018 Mustang GT.

“The Mustang has been a cornerstone vehicle for Ford Motor Company for more than a half century now,” said Brett Wheatley, executive director of North America, Ford Customer Service Division.“We’re excited to offer the 2018 edition as a grand prize in the Mustang 5.0 Fever Sweepstakes.”

While you might not have immediately fallen in love with the latest Mustang refresh, we’d wager that might change if you had a free example in your driveway. Better yet, this one comes with the added bonus of free Ford Performance Parts upgrades. Ah, we knew that would get your attention.

“There’s no better way to appreciate the joy of driving than behind the wheel of a Mustang GT, especially a free one that comes with $5,000 of Ford Performance Parts to help customize it,” Brett added.

According to the contest rules, the grand-prize winner will score “A 2018 Ford Mustang GT (maximum MSRP $41,800) with $5,000 MSRP in Ford Performance Parts. Winner will be allowed to choose Ford Performance Parts, including installation, not to exceed $5,000. Performance Parts may include performance packs for handling and power.”

A free Mustang with free performance parts is a dream come true, but that’s not all. You won’t even have to pay to have those FPP upgrades installed.

“Installation will be paid for by Ford and must be completed at a qualified Ford dealership,” the rules continue. “Sponsor will determine all features of vehicle, including but not limited to color of exterior and interior, and all other features or upgrades will be allowed only if permitted by delivery dealer and paid for by winner.”

So you could drive away with a new Mustang upgraded with exhaust, induction, tuning, and suspension upgrades without spending a dime. That is definitely a realized fantasy, just as it was for last year’s winner Robin Staudte, who recently picked up her 2017 Ford Mustang GT at Penske Ford in La Mesa, California. She was one of 194,000 people who entered and she drove away in Magnetic metallic Mustang GT with black interior on February 25, 2017.

“I’ve never won anything before in my life,” she said after winning. “I’m shaking.”
