I picked up the BOSS 529 from Chris Collier of Panama City, FL. Chris did a fabulous
paint job…. Show quality! All the graphics are painted, not decals.
The car in now back in my shop and the “real” fun begins.
Chris had to make me a custom hood scoop. You might recall the pictures from earlier posts of the carb/aircleaner sticking up through the hood. The original BOSS 429 fiberglass hood scoop was our starting point, as it wasn’t big/high enough to set over the aircleaner.
In this shot, you can see I had Chris incorporate the turn signal ports from the original Boss 302 hood scoop.
Here’s some of the first pictures after painting and during polishing. Take note on how nice the engine bay and firewall came out.
Here’s some final shots of the finished paint before loading into the trailer to take home. Note: The hood scoop is just setting on the hood and note screwed down.
Front Right shot
Right rear shot. You might recall the name of the car is SHOTGUN from previous posts. When Ford was developing the Boss 429 Hemi enginge, the code name for the project was Shotgun. So, I incorporated the SHOTGUN name on the trunk and hood on either side of the hood scoop.
Left qtr shot
SHOTGUN
As you can see, my graphics on the car came from several years and models. The Hood and Trunk from a Mach 1, the reverse “C” side strip from a ’69 Boss 302. Not only do I like the combination, but even the new 2013 BOSS 302 has the reverse “C” strip. All the graphics are painted on with a special satin finish product. It came out well.
Setting safely in my shop…. the real fun begins!
So, wish me luck and I’ll keep the updates and status coming.
Regards, Mark
