Do you have a ThermoCap?

We mentioned this product from Mr. Gasket in a past new product announcement so we thought we’d show you it in action. See the following video that we performed on Project Redneck. The ThermoCap is not a bad idea since your in-car water temperature gauge is not necessarily an accurate measure of your radiator’s water temperature. While most FordMuscle readers are expected to have enough common sense to avoid opening a dangerously hot radiator, we all make bonehead mistakes from time to time. The ThermoCap’s gauge face will remind any enthusiast to wait for the radiator to cool before pulling the cap.

See time-lapse video of the ThermoCap (2.2 mb)

See the ThermoCap product flyer from Mr. Gasket

For information on where the ThermoCap can be purchased see www.mrgasket.com

The existing Stant brand cap on Project Redneck was rated at 16psi and worked just fine.

The ThermoCap is available in 13 and 16 psi versions. There are many colors to choose from. We stuck with the 16 psi rating for Project Redneck .

  1. Great Idea - More Info and a little Color under the hood too.

I just ordered one for my PT Woody.

  2. Good idea , but the movie was a little much…LOL

  3. Summit sells these for $20 under their brand. Just picked one up for my F-150 347 project. Cheaper than a water temp gauge!
