They’ve been around for a few years now and by itself, should confirm the success of Ford’s F-Series truck commercials that use Dennis Leary’s voice and style of presentation. In a strange twist of television fate, it is likely that Leary actually may know something about trucks, as his father was an auto mechanic.
The Ford commercials build on Leary’s sardonic style and may have done more, of recent, to promote him to the public than Leary’s own TV show, Rescue Me. Since 2008, Leary has narrated the Ford commercials in a non-nonsense, “Here’s what you need to know” approach.
If there were any remaining doubt about these commercials, it disappeared now that the first parody has appeared. Comedian Mark Little, who is certainly not short on success himself, has put together a parody of the Ford advertisements. His own sense of humor uniquely cuts to the bone of what the F-150 ads are all about.
