1970 MontegoAlright FordMusclers, let’s see what we can do to help out an unfortunate Ford owner. Well, in this case… a Mercury owner. You may recognize the 1970 Montego pictured here from the pages of Hot Rod magazine. The Pro Touring Mercury was an HR feature car, however, it was stolen on March 7th from the garage of Jeff Koch. The story hits close to home since FordMuscle has been featuring a Montego as well in Project MX. While we realize that a homeless person outside of 7-11 probably wouldn’t steal our Merc if the keys were still in it, the theft of “Monte1Go” is rather disturbing.

The following email was forwarded to FordMuscle the evening of March 8th.

The Hot Rod feature car “Monte1Go”, a 1970 Mercury Montego was stolen in Gardena, CA on March 7, 2006. Unlike some magazine cars, it was owned by one of the editors. If anyone sees this Mopar electric blue car VIN# 0H07H537622 please let Jeff Koch know, so we can get it back to the rightful owner. It has a modified 351C and AOD, with 17″ steel wheels, and a modified suspension. Also notable, it has a Cyclone hood, grill & carbon fiber bumper. At this time it does not have an outside mirror. See attached picture. Any info about this car and event will be appreciated.

If you have seen this car or have any information regarding the theft, please email jon@fordmuscle.com and we will forward the information to Jeff Koch. The photos used here are copyright Jeff Wight, all rights reserved.
