ProCharger Unleashes Its Compact, 1,200HP-Capable P-1R Supercharger

We’ve seen impressive performance from ProCharger’s compact P-1X supercharger on our projects and other Coyote-powered machines. Now the company is continuing that evolution with a supercharger rated for even more power that bolts into the same bracket as the vaunted P-1X. We first spotted the P-1R during last year’s trade show season, but now it is hitting the streets ready to pump out performance in excess of 1,200 horsepower.

The P-1X is rated at 950 horsepower and 1,275 cfm, while the P-1R steps up to 1,250 horsepower and 1,600 cfm. Maximum boost rises from 32 to 36 psi, yet the P-1R retains the 9-inch volute, 4.10:1 internal step-up ratio and 65,000-rpm maximum impeller speed. That extra airflow can make a difference on high-revving Coyote-powered Mustangs and other modern V8s chasing four-digit power.

Now shipping, the ProCharger P-1R bolts into an existing P-series bracket and packs 1,250 horsepower of rated capability and 1,600 cfm of maximum airflow. The P-1R adds headroom without forcing enthusiasts into a larger F-series package. This unit is a direct upgrade for existing P-series hardware. It shares the P-series external dimensions, so customers can move up from a P-1X without replacing the supercharger bracket, intercooler or charge piping. Pulley, belt, fuel-system and tuning changes can still be necessary as power climbs.

That flexibility makes the P-1R just as interesting for street cars. A larger pulley and pump gas can tame the combination for daily driving, while E85, a smaller pulley, the right fuel system and proper tuning can unlock big boost at the track with the right supporting hardware and tuning.

The P-1R is available and ready to ship. Those ordering new ProCharger Tuner Kits can select this upgrade, and individual head units are also available to upgrade your current combo. If your combo has outgrown a P-1X but you want to keep its compact packaging, visit the company’s website for more details on the P-1R and available applications.
