Good morning and welcome to Milan dragway. We are here on the 4th stop of the NMRA race roster. We are currently looking at cloudy skies with a chance of rain throughout the day. Along with reworking the exhaust, installing a new 02 sensor, adjusting the clutch and pinion angle They recently switched engine builders to Roush Competition Engines. John says, “We are looking for a win this weekend and to run in the 11.0 area.”

We have Dave Ginter of Real Street bleeding his brakes down – after having some issues with his line lock and line lock relay he replaced both.

Test and Tune

Is in the bag were starting Q-1 now I will return with update on T-n-T and Q-1 stay tuned

Qualifying Round 1

The weather stuck it out to give us half way decent racing, the track was hooking and the Milan staff really does a great job of prepping the track to give us great conditions.
Here are the results after Q1

Drew Lyons is hanging the wheels in his Pure Street machine like always and is qualified 8th in his class. This is his first race out this season and he is looking to improve on that first round qualifier and make it through eliminations.

Mike Murillo ran into some bad luck when he kissed the wall on the big end,he tapped the left-side quarter panel, but he came back to run a 6.78 in the second qualifying session, moving right to the top of the qualifying ladder entering Saturday’s final session.

Brandon Alsept is currently qualified #3 with a 10.33 in Pure Street. He skipped the Atco race, but is expecting his Modular-powered machine to run well during eliminations.

Ryan Hecox is qualified # 5 with a 10.43 in Eibach Springs Pure Street in his brand-new car, purchased originally for another purpose. Currently the car has the drivetrain from his silver championship-winning machine in it, and he is working with a backup engine, as he broke a rod in his first-line engine in Atco.

Bruce Hemminger landed on top of the Steeda Real Street class with a 9.56 in the first round of qualifying. Hemminger hasn’t been out yet this year, but he’s picking up where he left off last season.

Diablosport EFI Renegade champion Alton Clements is struggling a little bit with his car so far this weekend, as he’s off-pace from his normal 8.3x ET’s. Clements is currently qualified fourth with a 9.02.

Friday News from the Pits

John Leslie is trying to work out a no-start/fuel issue. He and his crew are out there burning the midnight oil. John says, “I’m not worried – we’ll be ready for tomorrow.”

Dan Baumann had a bit of trouble keeping his Steeda Real Street machine straight on his 2nd qualifier. He is adjusting the anti roll bar.

Drew Lyons is working with a fresh combo and is trying to work out the timing. He was just working on some minor engine changes since the car keeps wanting to wheelstand.

Clair Stewart is out for his first race in 5 years. He said, “It feels good to be back. I’m trying to get the car to quit bogging on the line so we can get down the track cleanly.”

Dyno Joe has his hands full out there with some chewed up brake caliper retaining bolts. He told us, “Thank god it happened before I was going down the track. I got a lot of help from Roush, Conrad Scarry, and the Booze Brothers, which is much appreciated.”

Below are the results from Q2

News from the Pits

It is uncharacteristically quiet in the pit area. The report from Steven Biggs pit of BFGoodrich drag radial.

Steve says “we had some luck a few years ago here at Milan taking home the win , were hoping to repeat our last success here.
We’re ready to go now but we had some serious hustling to do between Q3 and first round of eliminations after a pretty violent wheel stand that brought us down hard and cracked the oil pan , with the help of Miller welding we were able to repair the problem. After qualifying second we have high hopes to see the winners circle at the end of the event.

The report from Conrad Scarry pit
“the boost control quit on us last pass as a result we came down on the wastegate spring. We lost all boost. fortunately Jim Monson came to the rescue with a boost control for us.”

Mike Murillo is taking the down time to relax and is ready and waiting to take on Conrad Scarry.
