In the old days, everything was mechanical on a car including the throttle cable. These were reliable and responsive for the most part, though electric drive-by-wire systems have now become the norm on many automobiles. This includes cars like the Mustang and Camaro, whose motors make popular swaps into their older forebearers.
Before, you had to transfer the whole throttle assembly from a donor car into the older machine. Lokar Performance Parts has developed a programmable drive-by-wire throttle control pedal assembly that is the first of its kind. It can be used with most modern GM, Ford, and Mopar motors. These pedals are made from aluminum and stainless steel and the splined pedal mounting offers versatile mounting locations.
Best of all though, the electronic sensor on the throttle has been programmed to provide immediate pedal response. In other words, there is no lag between when you step on the pedal, and when the engine really kicks in, unlike on most OEM applications. It’s a step in the right direction for anybody planning a modern engine swap into a classic car.
