The 1967 Ford Mustang known as “Eleanor” seemed to become a household name overnight with the 2000 remake of the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. Everyone everywhere fell in love with Eleanor. With the Mecum auction right around the corner, lucky number 7 out of 11 Eleanor Mustangs (Lot F153) produced for the movie is crossing the auction block in Monterey, California held August 14-16, 2014.

This particular Eleanor Mustang was used in scenes involving the actors in the remake including Nicholas Cage, Angelina Jolie, and Giovanni Ribisi. It was designed by the one and only Steve Stanford, famed hot rod designer.

Exterior modifications include horizontal bars filling the front grille and front valance. Twin driving lights grace the front reminiscent of the ’67 Shelby. More Shelby influences show through on the hood bulge, racing stripes, upper and lower side scoops, fuel tank filler cap, rear spoiler, and Thunderbird-style taillights. It also features fender flares and side-exit exhaust which was added after the movie wrapped by Cinema Vehicle Services.

Wheels are 17-inch Halibrand-style Schmidt wheels and two-tone Silver and Charcoal paint. Inside of the engine bay is a Ford Racing 351-cubic-inch crate engine with a Holley 700 CFM 4-barrel carburetor and high-volume fuel pump, 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear end. The aluminum radiator was made by Fluidyne Racing Products and Total Control front reinforcement brakes. Inside features air conditioning, Lecarra steering wheel, and Auto Meter Sport Comp tachometer.
