Ford Motor Company’s 9-inch rear housing, which hasn’t been produced since the mid-1980’s, remains virtually unmatched in the high performance and racing driveline marketplace. Even today, aftermarket manufactures continue to lift their rear end housing designs right from those OE Ford housings, with 9-inch swaps into a myriad of late model performance vehicles becoming more and more commonplace.

Strange Engineering produces one of the most well-crafted 9-inch housings in the industry – a point that wasn’t lost on Falls Church, Virginia native Jamie Hubka when he proceeded with his plans to bolt a 9-inch up under his 2005 Mustang GT.

Hubka’s GT was already tricked out with an RGR-built bullet under the hood mated with a ProCharger D-1SC supercharger producing 700 horsepower at the wheels, and that meant it was time to beef up the rest of the package to create one wicked street and strip machine.

Hubka called upon our good friends and Mustang aficionados at JPC Racing up in Maryland to perform the installation. The project revolved around a Strange bolt-in 9-inch housing catered to the ’05 and later Mustangs, with standard gears and an S-Series yoke, an S/S 35-spline axle kit, 9-inch 35-spline Strange Trac differential, a 4-inch custom aluminum driveshaft, aluminum U-joint girdles and U-joint Race Yoke, and a host of other high-end components.
