Among the more creative things that Ford’s exhibit people have done recently is to bring live dyno sessions to indoor shows. Nothing draws a crowd at a car show – indoor or outdoor – like the snarling peal of a Mustang under full throttle.

Visitors to the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, which opens to the public on Saturday, will be able to see the recently announced Mustang Boss 302 do its thing on the rollers. With 440 hp driving the show, it should be something spectacular to see – and hear.

From the Press days that have just closed, Edmunds Inside Line brings us this video of the show. While it doesn’t sound like a full redline pull, it doesn’t take long either and that’s always a sign of a strong engine.

The limited production 2012 Mustang Boss 302 was designed to become the quickest, best-handling production Mustang ever built by Ford, goals that were tested and confirmed in real, competition track testing. The Boss 302 also features a first-ever dual key system that reconfigures the car’s internal programming for street or racetrack use.

The NAIAS runs from this Saturday through to Sunday, January 23 at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. Tickets are $12 per person. Children 7 -12 and Seniors are admitted for $6. Tickets are available at the door, or by fax or online purchase. Full details are avbvailable on the show’s web site.
