Today’s muscle cars are incredible machines loaded with technology that facilitate everything from finding the nearest Italian restaurant to protecting your loved ones in an accident with a dozen airbags (or more). For 2013 Ford has upgraded the Mustang in a number of ways, including a built-in track gauge, LED taillights and…a pony projector?

Yes, one of the 2013 Mustang’s newest features projects an image of the famed running horse on the ground beneath the sideview mirrors. Is this cool, lame, or somewhere in between?

It probably depends on who you ask, though obviously Ford thought highly enough of the idea to make it standard on all 2013 Mustangs. Furthermore, Ford apparently went through six or seven revisions of the idea to get it just right. Without seeing the effect in person, it is hard to tell if they’ve been successful or not…though the idea is at the very least, neat.

Still, with all the aftermarket options for these kind of aesthetic “improvements”, is Ford cheapening the Mustang in an effort to make it cool? Does a muscle car with 400+ horsepower really need a projector light? You tell us, is this a good idea, a bad idea…or who cares?
