There can be no doubt that today’s cars are technological marvels compared to the vehicles of even ten years ago. With hundreds of millions of lines of coding, wireless connectivity, and the ability to control your car from your phone, today’s cars have more computing power than the manned missions to the moon.
For 2013, Ford is further integrating technology into the Mustang with the addition of “Track Apps” and a productivity screen which can be tailored to deliver specific information on how well your car is performing.
The available 4.2-inch productivity screen fits between the tachometer and speedo and it features the unique Track Apps, which is basically a whole of performance indicators for your Mustang. An on-board accelerometer measures g-forces in the corners, and the Track Apps can also be tuned to provide information on 0-30, 0-60, and 0-100 mph marks. It can also tell you your time in the quarter and eight-mile.
The productivity screen can even measure your braking distances for 60-0 or 100-0 measurements. It will even store the best times for later comparision. And that’s not all; drivers can look at their air/fuel mixture, air inlet, oil, and transmission temperatures. The productivity screen can also monitor fuel economy, for those rare occasions where efficiency matters more than horsepower.
The Track Apps feature adds a whole new dimension to the 2013 Ford Mustang, and we bet it’ll end up being a popular option when the 2013 model hits dealerships in a few weeks.
