Ford is incredibly proud of the 2013 Mustang, and with good reason. Having listened to enthusiasts and critics, Ford went ahead and improved on the 2013 Mustang model in just about every way. At the heart and soul of the Mustang buying process is the customization tool on Ford’s website. Alas, even though the 2013 model goes on sale this spring, Ford’s website has yet to update the Mustang portal with the new changes.
Or rather, Ford’s American website has yet to update. Yet the fine folks over at Mustangs Daily report that Ford’s Canadian website has just uploaded the Build & Price feature for 2013 Mustangs.
The Mustang is overwhelmingly a North American market car. While Ford does sell a few models in places like Japan, most sales of the Mustang happen in either the U.S. or Canada. Being a colder place in general, and using their own money, Canada thus gets its own Ford automotive website. And while the F-150 is Canada’s most popular selling vehicle, there is a segment of the population that enjoys the Mustang…about 3 months out of the year.
While many things are a carryover between the U.S. and Canadian Mustang models, there are some important differences. For one, there is no base model Mustang GT; all V8 Mustangs come with leather seats and the SYNC system, which is usually reserved for the Premium models here in the states. Other differences include the costs of certain options like the Recaro racing seats. In America this option costs almost $1,600; in Canada they are a $1,000 option.
Maybe its just our patriotism talking, but we find the American Ford website a lot more fun to use. No offense Canada, but it’s hard to take any country seriously whose monetary system is called “the Looneie…” But that’s just our opinion. Check out the site for yourself and come to your own conclusions.
