Over on the Mustang Evolution forums, an unnamed commentator has brief the crowd with insider secrets in regards to the looks of the next-gen Mustang. Is this guy right? Or just talking about of his butt?
Commentator MMVEC (whose identity will remain concealed) claims to work for a parts supplier for the next generation Mustang, and has supposedly seen what the 2015 Mustang will look like. And according to him, gone are most of the retro references that have plagued the current Mustang. Instead, the next Mustang will be “edgy” and “curvy” not unlike the ‘99-2004 New Edge Mustangs.
But here is where we get a little concerned. According to MMVEC, the next-gen Mustang will go “up market” to compete against the likes of Audi and BMW. Umm, does that mean an even MORE expensive Mustang? Probably. Ford also plans to export the Mustang to markets like Europe and China, which means an IRS is almost certain (finally!)
We can’t help be concerned about the price though, even this far out. Will the next Mustang become more akin to the BMW M3 than to the pony car that every kid and his brother once wanted (and could afford?) We hope not. We’ll just have to wait until 2014 to find out though.
