There are two kinds of records in the world; the records for being the first to do something, and everything else. There can only be one first…but records for everything else, from juggling the most bowling pins to eating the most metal to having the world’s longest fingernails can be broken. But being the first at something? That lasts forever.
This weekend Aeromotive’s President Steve Matusek broke the NMCA mile per hour record by more than 16 mph, and in the process became the first NMCA competitor to go over 250 mph.
Matusek was behind the wheel for the first outing in their new Aeromotive Mustang in the NMCA series. The twin-turbo Roush Yates Mustang ran a time of 6.11 seconds at 250.41 mph, which wasn’t even their fastest run in terms of ET. Their other two runs of the night were a 6.08 at 249 mph and a 6.07 second run at 248 mph. In other words, they might be the ones to break their own record.
The pass was also the first 250 mph pass for a NMCA car, but it wasn’t the only record set by an Aeromotive car over the weekend. Chris Rini in his NMCA Camaro recorded the fastest pass in NMCA history in terms of ET with a 5.98 @ 236.46 mph, making him the first into the 5’s in NMCA history. It was a big weekend for Aeromotive, that’s for sure.
