The Ford Mustang is an amazingly versatile vehicle, with men and women from all walks of life taking the plunge into pony car ownership. That’s because Mustangs make great cruisers, race cars, or even humble commuters that add a dash of spice to an otherwise boring ride to work. As it turns out, Mustangs also make pretty good drug mules too…as long as you don’t get nervous at the border.
But that’s what happened when a 19-year old man tried to cross from Mexico into the United States, reports KWCH, leading to the discovery of over 400 pounds of cocaine in his trunk worth over $4 million.
The teenager, whose name is being withheld pending an investigation, was trying to cross into the U.S. at Pine Valley in his silver Mustang. He reportedly acted “nervous” when talking to the border guard, who then brought a drug dog down to go over the car. The dog has no trouble locating the 62 packages containing 436 pounds of cocaine in the trunk of the Mustang, though we wonder if the low-riding nature of this car might have also tipped off border agents that something was afoot.
The drugs are estimated to be worth about $4.3 million on the street, meaning some drug lord in Mexico must be pretty pissed off right now. No wonder the smuggler’s name hasn’t been released. Though we must admit, fitting 400 pounds of anything into the trunk of a Mustang is quite the feat. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever crammed into the trunk of a Mustang (and please, don’t say a body…) ?
