Rick and Linn Erdman have been in the Mustang game for many years. The couple has also owned Amazon Tuning for many years, as well. This 2015 Mustang GT is a sign the couple isn’t slowing down anytime, soon.
Erdman’s first Mustang was a ’65 coupe 6-cylinder car. “It didn’t stay in there long,” he says of the 6-cylinder engine. The Erdman’s latest project, this ’15 GT 6-speed manual with $150 in dealer options, but that’s how he wanted it. Erdman knew the car was going to be modified as quickly as that first ’65 coupe.
The ’15 already has a ProCharger D1-SC making almost 12 pounds of boost at 7,000 rpm. Supporting mods include ID1000 fuel injectors, Metco fuel rails, a Kooks exhaust system, and Driveshaft Shop half-shafts and aluminum driveshaft. Utilizing HP Tuners software, Erdman’s GT made 703 hp and 551 lbs-ft of torque on the company Mustang Dyno using pump gas. The car made 700-rwhp on pump gas, but Erdman will be tuning the car using Gulf Racing fuel for Bradenton.
When we talked to Erdman, he was installing a Watson Racing 6-point roll cage in the car, with much appreciated help from Boosted Performance’s Donnie Salem and Corey Walters. The cage was in preparation of the car’s debut at the NMRA Spring Break Shootout in a couple weeks at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The car also boasts an MGW shifter, Racestar wheels, and possibly a Ram dual-disc clutch very soon. Up front the Racestar wheels will wear Hoosier treads, but out back Erdman is unsure of what he’ll be running. It’ll be either Hoosier slicks or Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial IIs.
Amazon Tuning is located in Mooresville, NC, and shares shop space with Boosted Performance. Erdman tells us if it wasn’t for Boosted’s Salem and Walters, the car wouldn’t be where it is today. Check out the car for yourself at the Spring Break Shootout, where Erdman will be competing in Super Stang.
