The Mustang may be the most popular muscle car in America for almost five decades, but in recent years it seems to have lost some of its cultural relevance. We don’t say this lightly…but think about how many movies and television shows make regular use of Mustangs, compared to say the 60’s and 70’s? There is a dearth of Mustangs on television especially these days. So what better way to fix this problem but with a television show dedicated entirely to Mustangs?
That is the idea behind American Pony Builders, which would follow the real-life adventures of professional Mustang restorer Jeff Yergovich. But unless they can raise $35,000 on Kickstarter to produce a pilot episode, this would-be TV show is dead in the water.
American Pony Builders would follow Yergovich and the crew of the R & A Motorsports shop. Yergovich has over 35 years of Mustang restoration experience, and he has seen pretty much everything there is to see when it comes to Mustangs. We feel like a show centered around the restoration of these cultural icons would be great, but television executives disagreed, despite this awesome two-minute promo but together for the show.
So Jeff has turned to the fundraising website Kickstarter, where people can pledge money to worthy causes and ideas. The catch though, is that in order to get any of that money, you must reach whatever goal you set for yourself. In the case of American Pony Builders, their goal is a whooping $35,000, and to date they’ve only had just over $1,400 pledged. They have until the middle of September to make this happen and produce a 22-minute show to showcase to television execs. We know the Mustang community is a tight knit group, many of whom have big hearts and deep pockets. So, can we get this show on air? We’re making an anonymous pledge right now, and we suggest you do the same if the idea of a Mustang-centric show appeals to you.
