“Barn Find” ‘65 Shelby GT350 Expected To Get Big Bucks At Auction

We have all heard the stories and legends about some guy discovering an unmolested, very restorable rare car in some barn somewhere. No doubt these stories have happened, though the documented incidents are increasingly rare these days. So when a true barn find happens, it is kind of a big deal.Back in 2009, a numbers-matching 1965 Shelby GT350 was pulled from a barn in California. With just 44,000 miles on the odometer, this unrestored original is heading to Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in January.

This is the real deal, the whole package, the find of a lifetime. Purchased by the original owner in 1965, this Shelby racked up 44,000 miles before being moved into a barn and slowly piled over with stuff. The original owner held on to the Shelby until 2009, and it comes with every shred of evidence documentation, and even original California black plates.

Rather than restore this rare ride, the new owners decided to leave it in As-Is condition, which is still good despite the fading racing stripes. The engine was freshened up so the Shelby could be driven, though we doubt it will see much of the road in the coming years. No, this is a museum piece, a true barn find survivor. And you just don’t find many cars like this these days, do you?
