The first racing stripes were “invented” in the early 50’s as a way to distinguish one race car from another. Over the years, racing stripes became standard fare on many sports cars from many manufacturers, though the Big Three were the chief offenders. From racing stripes we graduated to gaudy graphics that not adorn far too many vehicles, including Mustangs.
Does this checkered flag on the hood of this Fox-body Mustang, found by Jalopnik on kijiji, make it any more valuable or cool? Probably not. But the 2003 Mustang Cobra parts that underpins this Fox-body? Ya…that helps quite a bit, actually.
Also this Fox body features an SN95 interior.
We can’t always account for individual taste, so why the owner of this Mustang decided to wrap his whole front end in vinyl checkered flag graphics, we don’t really know. According to the seller, the only thing Fox-body about this Mustang are the body panels and chassis. Everything else has been borrowed or modified from a 2003 Mustang Cobra, including the supercharged DOHC V8. We can totally get behind that.
We’re not too sure about the golden-yellow interior though, which is also taken from a 2003 Cobra. It looks very, very out of place on the Mustang, and those extra gauge pods don’t help. For the asking price of $28,000, a lot of the hard work is already done…but is such a “unique” Mustang worth the investment?
