Generally speaking engine building takes time. Everything from having a clean working environment, to painstakingly checking clearances and verifying the proper fit of all components is something that can not be rushed. That is unless your competing in the Comp Cams Engine Builder Duel.
Throughout this summer at select events, Comp Cams will once again be holding their Engine Builder Duel. A pair of teams of two will race against the clock, and each other to see who can assemble a small block engine and get it in running condition in the shortest amount of time.
Comp Cams provides all of the parts already laid out, as well as all the tools needed. Competitors will have to do this as well with the pressure of a live audience. However, they’re not allowed to ask the audience any questions for help.
The competition draws some of the best professional and amateur engine builders in the country in for the excitement. Winners each get a $250 Comp Cams gift card towards the purchase of any Comp Cams product. The runner up team at each event receives $125 gift cards. The dual is sponsored by Snap-On Tools.
This year’s Engine Builder Duel schedule has been expanded, offering more events than ever before. For 2013 Comp Cams will bring the excitement of the Engine Builder Challenge to seven different cities, including three stops on the Hot Rod Power Tour, two visits to Goodguys events, and on site at the Car Craft Summer Nationals.
