The Comp Cams Engine Builder Duel returns this year with contests on the Hot Rod Power Tour and at the Car Craft Summer Nationals.
Presented by Snap-On Tools, the Engine Builder Duel pits 2-person teams against each in assembling and cranking over a small-block Chevy in the shortest time. The engine must run for one minute before a winner is declared. Winners will each receive a $250 gift certificate from Comp Cams. Runnerups get a $125 voucher
Contestants are provided with the necessary tools but may not ask advice or receive help of any kind from the audience. The all-time record is 22 minutes, 32 seconds set last year in St. Paul.
Calls have gone out for contestants for the Hot Rod Power Tour competition, which will be held at zMax Dragway near Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 7 and at Chillhowee Park in Knoxville, Tennessee, on June 8. The 3-day Car Craft Summer Nationals will be held mid-July starting July 18 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul. To enter either competition, send an email to enginebuilderduel@gmail.com.
