Ford is teasing the debut of a new performance vehicle in Europe. It won’t break cover at an auto show or even an automotive event. Instead, this vehicle will make its debut at a gaming convention, Gamescom, which is held in Cologne, Germany, later this month.

“The first ever vehicle launched at Europe’s largest gaming event, held 21-25 August, in Cologne, Germany, promises to bring the fun back to on- and off-road driving,” says the company. “It will also be added to a forthcoming racing video game, enabling gamers to push the vehicle to its limits on virtual racetracks.”
Clearly Ford is looking to excite the younger generation about is lineup of performance vehicles. As such, the company will have eight racing pods and a special 4D racing simulator on hand for attendees to virtually compete driving its vehicles. The owner of the lap record for each day of the show will win a trip to the United Kingdom to hang with the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team for the day, so definitely give it a shot if you are attending.
While the company hasn’t expressly stated what vehicle will debut in its announcement, the imagery accompanying it was none other than the Ranger that jumped onto the hill at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed adorned with the Gamescom logo, so it doesn’t really take detective to connect the dots.
“The standout experience of the Ranger Raptor, hands down, is how far you can push it off-road versus any other available production road vehicle in our markets, and still ride like a millionaire on-road,” Damien Ross, Chief Program Engineer, Ranger Raptor, Ford Motor Company, said when the truck made its official.
Thus far the Ranger Raptor is only officially available in Ford’s Asia-Pacific region, which includes Australia. So, if it makes the leap to Europe, can North America be far behind?
