When you’re in the market for a Shelby GT-500, you’re usually looking at the performance side of things as well as the usual Shelby cosmetic appearance package featuring stripes and badges among other things. Most everybody knows that Shelby Performance didn’t make any sort of V6 package. If you wish they did, you can do what this guy did and just make your own.
However, if you wanted a V6 Shelby clone, you’re in luck. This Craigslist ad based out of New York has just what you’re looking for. This guy is selling a Shelby GT500 clone/replica with the chassis and motor from a 2007 4-liter V6. According to the seller, it only has 18,000 miles on the odometer, the car has a full GT500 body kit, the official plaque with VIN number, Shelby arm rest and interior lighting. It also has a C&L cold air intake, Ford Racing stamped Borla Stingers, and a Bama custom tuning race tune. The wheels are SVT GT500 wheels with all season tires with 85% tread left.
So, you get all of the Shelby appearance for $15,500. Your very own Shelby clone V6. Obviously, it doesn’t have that V8 growl, but it has a loud exhaust that might have it passing off as one, until race day at least. It looks like he nailed the appearance, but to those expecting performance from a Shelby this one is seriously lacking. There’s nothing wrong with a modified V6, but it is what it is. Would you call a V6 Cobra clone, a Cobra?
What do you think of this faux Shelby GT-500 replica? Would you buy this for $15k?
