The Ford Mustang has always been a hot commodity on eBay, and on any given day there are at least a dozen or so Mustangs that could qualify as “collector cars.” While most of these are either special edition late model Mustangs, or early and rare classics, we have noticed as of late the Fox-body Mustangs have been enjoying quite the boost in both popularity, and price. Is this a glimpse of a future where Fox-body cars start demanding collector level prices?
That all depends on who you ask, but we did come across this very low-mileage 1988 Mustang GT on eBay that is in absolutely immaculate condition. With an asking price of over $28,000, it isn’t cheap, and we have to wonder is it worth adding to your collection with hopes that it will appreciate in value?
While the eBay ad claims this Mustang has “…NOT BEEN DRIVEN”, judging from the 3,831 miles on the odometer, this car would almost certainly seen at least some street time in it’s 25-year life. That said, the black paint-job, convertible top, and red interior all look to be in showroom condition. Equipped with the 5.0 V8 and a four-speed automatic, Ford rated this bad boy at 24 mpg highway. Good luck getting that kind of mileage though.
Still, this well-equipped Fox-body could represent a smart investment for a car collector who doesn’t have $250,000 to drop on an original ‘66 GT500. This Fox-body Mustang is very well-equipped, has low-mileage, and is in great condition, all of which are attributes of many collectible cars. We’re wondering though are these late-80s cars really ready for collector status? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
