In the past few years Ford has been changing our favorite Pony car into a straight up supercar. The modern Mustangs are pushing out massive amounts of horsepower to their rear wheels, but there are still some sweet Mustangs that started 20 years ago that will have any modern day Mustang owners salivating. One of those cars is the 1993 SVT Cobra “R”.
The Mustang Cobra has always been a king on the streets and add an “R” to the end of that and it might stop you dead in your tracks. It’s also quite rare with only 107 of them actually produced. Therefore, owning one is definitely something to be proud of. All of them come in the same color known as Vibrant Red featuring a gray interior.
This Foxy lady features a 5.0-liter V-8 producing 235 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Although half of the horsepower of the modern Shelby vehicles, this is still a rarity with low miles and one impressive piece to add to any collection. The “R” is a track-ready Cobra featuring larger brakes, Koni shocks, an engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, and a factory rear seat delete.
The models were made for track use only and none of them have power locks, power windows, air conditioning, or radio and only come with a five-speed manual transmission. Not many of these exist with a lot of them seeing their last days at old race-tracks, and others are collector’s items. This particular Cobra “R” has only 20,000 original miles and is all original and rust-free. The asking price is close to $50K, but the seller is also accepting trades. Also, it’s in mint condition and the owner is a Mustang collector with over 20. Lucky!
