The Ford Mustang is one of the few cars in the history of automobiles to enjoy uninterrupted production nearly 50 years after it was first introduced. In that time a devoted, hardcore group of enthusiasts has filled in just about every niche and need for this muscle car, allowing cross-generational interbreeding the likes of which few other cars can match. With so many awesome Mustangs and engine packages to choose from, the options can be overwhelming.
We have to say though, this ‘67 Mustang is a bit different from what we’re used to. Not only have the 5.4 liter supercharged engine and 6-speed transmission been swapped, but also the entire interior, so that from the inside and under the hood, this looks like a modern Mustang. But it’s all classic on the outside. And now it’s up for sale on eBay.
This Mustang is a few notches above the usual modern motor swap. Among Mustang owners, the 5.0 liter V8 from the 80’s is a popular engine swap, though the wider modular motors present additional difficulties when it comes to engine swaps. Still, the shop that did this job obviously knows what they’re doing, as beneath the hood looks just like the 2009 GT500 that the drivetrain and rear end came from.
So too does the interior, which from seats to steering wheel to dashboard is all-‘09 Shelby. But from the outside, there aren’t any blatantly obvious signs that this car is hiding a modern engine. It even apparently has airbags. No mention of suspension upgrades, but we’ve got to assume something more modern than the original setup is in use. The asking price is a sky-high $275,000, but considering that two Mustangs were sacrificed to make this one possible, is the asking price worth it?
