There is so many things to like about driving a classic Mustang; the sound, the style, the looks all the pretty ladies give you as you go roaring by. What you won’t hear too many people brag about though is the ride. Classic American muscle just doesn’t have the advantage of an extra 50 years of suspension and comfort development. But what if you could drop an old cars body onto a new cars chassis?
Today’s eBay Find of the Day did just that, molding together a 1969 Ford Mustang fastback with a 2005 Ford Mustang Saleen S281. Modern machine, classic looks.
According to the eBay seller, this unique Mustang uses the entire unibody of the 2005 Saleen, including the floors. Yet they managed to keep the lines and size of the classic ‘69 Mustang intact, while keeping the modern Mustang’s driving geometry. The supercharged 4.6 liter V8 makes 400 horsepower and 400 ft-lbs of torque, the brake rotors are 13-inches in diameter, and the suspension has also been heavily upgraded by Saleen prior to this conversion.
In addition to the modern drivetrain, this classic-looking Mustang also maintains climate control, traction control, navigation, ABS, and airbags. So it is faster, safer, and more technologically capable than any classic Mustang could ever be. But is it worth the asking price of $95,000? We’d say so, but do you agree?
