eBay Find of the Day: Carbureted 5-Liter Powered Ford Focus

When one thinks of the Ford Focus, one does not usually think “performance car.” Perhaps econobox, hooptie hatchback, or some other, less-flattering vernacular. It is a shame we didn’t get the same hot hatchbacks Europe got in Focus form, so us Americans, we had to get creative.

Behold, the V8-powered, rear-wheel drive Ford Focus. This little nugget was found on eBay, and while bidding has ended, you’ve just got to get a look at this astounding, 100% American creation.

Obviously such a vehicle takes a lot of custom fabrication which, according to the advertisement, was all done professionally. Furthermore, there are just 700 miles on this mean Focus, which packs a Ford 5.0 crate motor under the hood. This engine is good for 360 horsepower, in a car that originally had just 130 ponies from its pint-sized four-cylinder engine. It is backed by a 5-speed Tremec transmission equipped with a “race clutch.”

The real selling point for this Focus is the rear-wheel drive setup though. An 8.8-inch rear end has been installed, as well as a tubular K-member, coil over suspension, and a number of other high-performance bits that turn this Focus into a muscle car eater. Can you say sleeper? Too bad it already sold for $12,000, otherwise we might have to try and find room in our stable for yet another car.
