All around the US and in other countries there is a problem with kids racing on the streets where they and other drivers are in danger. A number of police departments around the world run programs to try to get these kids that are tempted to race on the street to hit the track instead. Centerforce clutches posted up some pics not long ago on their Facebook page of two vehicles that the Edmonton Police Department uses in its Edmonton Street Legal program.
Naturally, both of the cars run Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch sets. The ride that most of us will be interested in is the Edmonton 2009 Mustang GT. This car was donated turnkey by Ford Canada and Freedom Ford Auto Sales in Edmonton to attract a new generation of muscle car fans and the track instead of the streets. The 2009 GT is a modified car with a 4.6L Hot Rod engine cranking out 550HP thanks to the Whipple twin-screw blower under the hood. Additionally it has Tokico racing shocks, MT drag radials, and a Ford Racing FR3 handling package.
The officers that participate in the program run the car in all sorts of race events, including autocross and drag racing. The car is street legal and is driven to and from the racing events and to special events at local schools. The Stang has tuned in a best ET on the track of 12.6 seconds. The other car is a pre-production 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT donated by Hyundai Canada. It has a V6 with nitrous on the side and is also street legal. The best ET for this car is 14.8-seconds.
