For an elite handful of lucky buyers, the holiday season officially kicked off today in Canada. That’s because Ford and its partners began construction of the first production run of EcoBoost-powered Ford GT supercars at the Multimatic facility located outside The Six.
“When we kicked off 2016, we had two primary objectives for our Ford GT supercar —to excel at Le Mans, and to start deliveries before year-end,” Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development, and chief technical officer, said. “We’ve achieved both.”
It’s been less than two years since Ford announced the next-gen supercar. The racing version already won Le Mans and now the production versions are being born.
“For everyone involved in designing and developing this car, including all of our employees and suppliers, this is a moment to celebrate,” Raj added. “The all-new Ford GT is a showcase of our strength in innovation and our commitment to delivering more for our customers—especially related to light-weight materials, aerodynamics and EcoBoost engine technologies.”
We can’t wait to see what these amazing machines are capable of when they hit the streets and it looks like that time is coming soon. To learn more, you can visit the car’s official site here.
