Here’s a question for you. When’s the last time you saw more than one Ford GT in one place at the same time? How about five in a row in the same place, at the same time? Does anyone know what the chances are of that? We don’t feel like running the numbers, but suffice it to say, this is a rare occurrence.
Jokes aside, if you’re in the Monterey, California, area this weekend, you may want to stop by and checkout these five Ford GT examples that are heading across the block at the Mecum Auctions from August 16-19.
These GTs range from essentially brand-new supercars to track modified-and-used iterations, so it’s guaranteed, there will be plenty to choose from at Mecum if you’re in the market for one – just make sure to more than six figures.
1. 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition
You know a car will command a certain asking price when its equipped with a $13,000 optional package – that of course being the Heritage livery offered by Ford at the time. This ’06 Ford GT, lot S77, is one of 20 examples ever produced with the optional livery and the cast-aluminum BBS wheels from the factory, and was delivered brand-new to Campbell Ford Lincoln in Niles, Michigan, and includes the original window sticker. It is also a one-owner car with only 1,800 original miles on its odometer.
2. 2005 Ford GT
If you know your author, you’ll know I’m a fan of stripe-delete Fords, and this GT is no exception. In fact, this stripe-delete is such a rare option, it’s one of 14 finished in Midnight Blue produced in 2005. This particular Ford GT, lot F-100, was delivered new to Jerry Duncan Ford, Inc. in Harriman, Tennessee, and features no more than 2,100 original miles on its odometer. Like the Heritage GT above, this example is also optioned with BBS forged aluminum wheels and carries its original window sticker.
3. 2005 Ford GT
Is it even appropriate for us to say this is “one rare Ford GT?” Probably not, but all we know is, this is the first example we’ve seen in all of the 4,038 iterations produced that is fully optioned out. With only 1,805 original miles, this Ford GT, lot S84, is hailed as one of only 348 finished in Red with white Le Mans stripes. This GT comes from the Gatsby Exotics Collection.
4. 2005 Ford GT
Undoubtedly, this has to be the lowest-mileage Ford GT we’ve ever seen. This ’05 example, lot S137, has no more than 107 miles on its odometer, and it’s finished in Ford’s Centennial White and features a pair of Blue stripes. An interesting point made by Mecum on its original listing says, “With the latest revival of the model relying on a V-6 for power, this is an excellent opportunity to own a low-mileage GT with supercharged V-8 power, roadworthy manners and magnificent preservation.” They wouldn’t be wrong, either.
5. 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition
As noted earlier, there were only 343 of the 2005-2006 Ford GTs optioned with the Heritage livery package, and this ’06 GT is one of them. This particular version was modified for track duty, featuring a performance calibration and a performance supercharger pulley, a modified racing exhaust and a Penske racing suspension with stiffeners, along with a set of competition disc brakes, a roll cage, lightweight racing interior and a radio and transponder.
This “track-prepped Ford GT saw limited use from 2006-2014, including five years of storage before it was sold,” according to the original listing. “Since then, it has been serviced and driven sparingly. Not equipped with a conventional odometer, the mileage is estimated at 2,500.”
As mentioned earlier, you can see all five of these Ford GTs at this week’s Mecum Monterey Auction in Monterey, California. For more information, head over to Mecum’s website here.
