If you ever want to go on a car-watching trip, there are a number of places to go to see rare and expensive automobiles. But if you want to see the world’s most expensive collection of exotic automobiles, then the only place to head is the oil-rich kingdoms of the Middle East. Dubai, Kuwait, and Qatar are filled with wealthy oil barons who have nothing better to do than spend their money on crazy-fast cars and race them across flat roads cutting through the desert.
So don’t feel too bad for the former owner of this crashed Ford GT. He can afford a new one. Instead, mourn the loss of yet another Ford GT, as attrition continues to take its toll on these great cars.
GT Spirit was sent these pictures by a tipster from the members-only Qatar Speed Motorsports Forum. They depict the aftermath of an accident in Qatar involving a rare and expensive Ford GT supercar. GT Spirit also includes a link to the car’s for-sale page from a few weeks ago. The car was a 2005 model with only 5,000 km on it, barely broken in. The asking price was 550,000 Qatari Riyals, which is about $150,000 U.S. dollars.
An expensive mistake, to be sure. We wonder if the car was on a test drive? Perhaps it was purchased by a recently-made-wealthy man who didn’t know what he was getting into. All we know for sure is that this car is totaled, though the engine, transmission, and interior may live on in some other form. Pluck it clean, fellas, that is an expensive mess.
