The new Ford Mustang has proven to be a world-class competitor in a variety of races throughout its long history. Yet one would be hard pressed to argue that the latest generation is head and neck above all previous incarnations. From the new Cobra Jet to the BOSS 302 to the S and R-spec racing versions, the Mustang is competing on a whole new level of motorsports…and reaping the benefits.
Mustangs Daily reports that for the second time this season, three Mustangs finished on the podium in the World Challenge GTS class, with Eric Foss taking the top spot for the second time this season.
Foss lead the qualifying round, and the entire race, coming out ahead of Jason von Kluge and Paul Brown. It was Foss’s second 1st-place finish for the 2011 season for a total points earnings of 1,257. That was good enough for a solid second place season finish and helped round out a great season for Foss.
But the overall victor was still Paul Brown, who secured enough points at the last race in Laguna Seca to secure his first championship victory. Even with a third-place finish, Brown finished the season with 1,521 points, more than enough for a first place victory. And with Kluge coming in second, the GTS class raced ended in a similar fashion to what has happened all season long; Mustang domination.
