The 2014 model year is the curtain call for the S197 Mustang chassis, Ford is not sending it out with any special editions or packages. Instead, Ford has seen fit to let the chassis retire with quiet dignity…and a 662 horsepower Shelby GT500 version. But for the rest of us, packages like the California Special and models like the BOSS 302 are unavailable for the final year of this chassis.
That is unless you’re a race car driver. See, Ford just started taking orders for the 2014 BOSS 302S Mustang, the race-only track monster that will set you back a shade under $90,000. For its final year, Ford has added a few new options, including new colors and wheels.
For 2014, Ford has added Grabber Blue and Performance White color options, free of charge, as well as a Satin Black that will set you back $5,995. A BBS wheel package adds $2,410 to the MSRP, and seam-welding will cost an extra $4,500. For the big dogs, extra-large Recaro racing seats will cost you $700 more.
Other than that, the 2014 BOSS 302S is the same track-crushing Mustang we’ve come to know and love. With a 5.0 BOSS engine, six-speed transmission, 3:73 gear ratio, big Brembo brakes, as well as a full suite of safety and racing features, the 2014 BOSS 302S is as sweet a swan song as the latest Mustang deserves. The next-generation of Mustangs definetly has some big shoes to fill.
