Back in September, Ford auctioned off the first Shelby GT350R model to include a rear seat option during the Cattle Baron’s Ball at the Cobo Center in the downtown Detroit. Because the GT350R comes standard with its rear seat deleted, that special GT350R was the only one in existence which was outfitted with rear seats until now.
Ford Performance Performance Parts recently announced that the company plans to follow through with its promise to offer GT350R owners the option to purchase a rear seat kit, according to Mustang6G. Check out the details below regarding what the kit entails from FRPP.
- Fits ’15-’16 Shelby GT350R models
- Kit includes all components necessary to add a rear seat to a GT350R model
- Kit adds all original GT350 restraint system components
- Unique rear seat upholstery matches the front seats including the signature GT350R red stitching
- PN M-63840-MS
- Retail price of $999.00
Ford originally removed the rear seats from the GT350R models in an effort to save weight on the most track capable Mustang to-date, which is about 78 pounds in all. Ironically enough, Mustang6G forum members have pointed out that the rear seat delete kit from FRPP actually costs more than the rear seat kit, and by quite a bit. The rear seat delete kit costs $1,313.13.
But with all the interest centered around the rear seat kit for potential GT350R model owners, we can’t help but wonder if these seats may be applicable for additional ’15-’16 models, such as the GT, EcoBoost, or V6.
