With 412 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque, the new 5.0 liter “Coyote” V8 represents an important step forward in Ford’s horsepower war against GM and Chrysler. In the two years this engine has been on sale in the 2011+ Mustangs, the Coyote 5.0 has proven incredibly capable in the hands of trained aftermarket tuners.
But even on its own, the Coyote 5.0 is a potent force, forming the cornerstone for the NMRA Coyote Stock heads-up racing category. JPC Racing has the Ford Racing sealed-spec engines necessary to compete in this category, as well as all the control systems to go along with it.
Sealed for racing, the Coyote Stock class is a heads-up racing class that uses stock 5.0 engines in pretty much any car you want. This allows for some head-to-head drag racing action while keeping engine costs quite low. Plus, Ford Racing makes a control pack that takes out much of the complexity of the Coyote 5.0.
Preliminary tests by competitors in this new class have clocked runs in the high-10 second range, and while we expect to see lots of late-model Mustangs on the track, this class opens the possibilities for other Ford models to hit the track as well. JPC Racing has these genuine Ford Racing parts ready to go, so what kind of 1954 and up Ford product do you plan on racing in the NMRA’s Coyote Stock class?
