One of our favorite past times is to browse all of the available Mustangs currently for sale on the web. We’re always on a ‘low key’ type of hunt for our next project car, and we’re always keeping an eye out for a nice come-up if we can. Funny enough, we found the opposite during today’s weekly eBay visit.
For the life of us, we can’t figure out why this particular 2016 Shelby GT350R is for sale with an asking price of nearly $123,000. Now if you were to ask us, we could probably see one of the more low production 2015 Shelby GT350R Mustangs selling for a price near that figure (and possibly even more, seeing as they less than 37 GT350R models that year).
For comedic relief, we'll give them a break on the asking price – just because this GT350R is equipped with the optional over-the-top racing stripes, and the electronics package.
But even if this GT350R is equipped with the aforementioned options, is the asking price of nearly double the MSRP, realistically justified? To add a bit of context, this specific eBay user isn’t the only one asking for an incredible sum of money to own a Shelby.
Another user is asking nearly $98,000 for their 2016 Shelby GT350R with only 363 miles on it, while this dealership is asking $150,000 for its 2015 Shelby GT350 (though we may be more inclined to cut these folks a break, since it’s 1 of 100 produced for that year).
The question of the day is, are these folks blowing smoke, or are these Shelby Mustangs worth their asking prices?
