For decades, young and old Americans alike have embarked on a noble tradition known as the road trip. Utilizing the intricate interstate system that criss-crosses our country, ambitious travelers have satisfied their wanderlust in all manner of automobiles. While some may prefer classic imports like British roadsters of VW vans, most of us would rather hop behind the wheel of an American muscle car for our cross-country excursion.
For H.A. McCarthy (Mac) and his co-pilot Mary O’Keffe Trischler, they will tackle this cross-country trip in their Kenny Brown-tuned Shelby GT nicknamed “Lucy.” You can follow their progress over at the KB Mustangs Facebook page.
In preparation for this trip, Kenny Brown outfitted Lucy with a fell Advanced Geometry Suspension kit. This kit is the perfect combination of track attitude and street manners, and will help Mac and Mary reach the 50th Shelby Anniversary Bash in Las Vegas, Nevada, in relative comfort. Their trip will utilize as much of the original Route 66 as possible, which many people call the “Mother Road,” as it was the first uninterrupted road to connect the eastern and western United States.
Mac, Mary, and Lucy are currently en route to the last leg of their journey to Las Vegas. This year’s festivities kick off on Wednesday and go through the weekend, bringing together Shelby enthusiast’s from all over the world. But you don’t need to go to a Shelby bash to enjoy a Kenny Brown Mustang or a good road trip. Sometimes you just have to hop in your car, whatever it may be, and go.
