Ford is ever-so-slowly rolling out the red carpet for the 2015 Mustang, which promises to dominate the sports car conversation for the better part of the next year and a half. Ford has gone to great lengths to conceal the look of the next-gen Mustang, though it has been heavily hinted that it will look a lot like the Ford Evos concept that debuted in 2011.
With everyone emphasizing the Evos look so much in their renderings, we thought it would be nice to look at something different for a change. Over at Mustang6G, forum-goer Thed put together this photochop of the recent Need For Speed movie Mustang, combining elements of the hero car with the Evos for a familiar-looking Mustang with a more modern twist.
A custom Shelby GT500 was selected for the starring role in the Need For Speed movie, which also stars Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul as a street racer in a cross-country race for his life. The biggest changes Thed made to the Mustang were to the front fascia, making the grille bigger and smoothing out the bumper. The sketch he used for inspiration is said to inspired by information from Ford insiders. How much of that part is 100-percent reliable is hard to say, but we’re fans of the final result here.
Thed also eliminates the egregious hood scoops installed for moviegoers, and slimmed out the headlights as well, adding that Evos element to the 2015 rendering. He also lowered the Mustang and stretched out the roofline for a more fastback look. We really dig this rendering, compared to some of the more European-looking Mustang photochops we’ve seen floating about. What do you think about Thed’s work?
