While we’re lucky enough to do what we love, namely writing about cars, there are many people who have much more humdrum jobs that are neither glamorous nor very rewarding. But these jobs are often very necessary, such as medical supplier Owens & Minor, which sends much-needed tools and medication to hospitals and care centers across the country.
To reward its loyal employees, every year Owens and Minor awards one employee who hasn’t missed a day of work for an entire year with a brand new Mustang. Cincinati.com reports that this year’s lucky winner, Michael Thompson, was very excited to win the Mustang and he plans to give it to his great niece. Way to pay it forward!
The Mustang giveaway has been an Owens and Minor tradition since 2005, and a Mustang winner is pulled from a lottery of all eligible employees who haven’t missed a day on the job in an entire year. Owens and Minor holds this raffle at each regional center, at the company’s Thompson’s center in Hebron, Ohio, there were five eligible contestants.
Thompson’s prize is a 2013 Ford Mustang V6 coupe. Sweetening the whole contest a little more, Owens and Minor paid for all the associated fees and sales tax for Thompson’s new Mustang. But it won’t be his for long, as he promised to give the car to his great-niece if he ever won. Talk about an awesome great-uncle, and a great job with rewards like that. Come to think of it all we ever got for perfect attendance was a cool field trip at the end of the school year in the third grade, maybe it’s time to talk to the boss.
