Does anyone remember this car from just a couple short months ago? There are ways to make yourself known in the racing community, then there are ways to make yourself infamous. Mike Harris did the latter just a few short months ago at the 11th Annual ABM Nationals at Cecil County Dragway – by taking the wheel of his brand-new Cobra Jet Mustang, launching it towards the sky, and pulling a couple of gears in the air before bouncing off both guardrails and coming to a stop. 967,737 views of your 19-second clip on YouTube is nothing to sneeze at! Unfortunately Mike couldn’t turn those clicks into dollars to repair his machine. We got word today from our inside sources at Ford Racing Parts that Harris’s Cobra Jet is repaired and ready to go, as it is scheduled to be in Bradenton, Florida this coming weekend for the NMRA’s Cobra Jet Showdown.
After the wreck, Harris sent the Cobra Jet to Watson Engineering in Taylor, Michigan (where the Cobra Jet roll cages are built and installed) and had their team take care off all of the rebuilding duties. As you can see from the before-and-after photos, bringing this Mustang back to life was no easy task, but the experienced team at Watson Engineering handled it with ease. Harris is part of Johnny Lightning Performance’s team, and the pair are heading to Florida, where they will be competing against plenty of other Cobra Jets in this unique event. If you want to check out his awesome Cobra Jet, and ask him about his wheelstand, you’ll have to be in Bradenton this weekend to do so.
