Mustang Girl Monday: Joanne Kensy Drops Imports For A New 5.0

Joanne grew up around imports. She was a Nissan girl until her ex came along. “The whole car thing changed for me when I was with my ex. Yes, even though I dislike the guy, I’ll give him credit for getting me into the whole American car thing!” At the time, Joanne owned a 2007 Nissan 350Z and he owned a gorgeous Redfire 2003 Mustang Cobra. It was all blacked out and the sexiest car Joanne had ever seen around town. Having the privilege to drive the “Terminator” always scared the hell out of Joanne and the power behind the vehicle blew her away. It changed her mind on cars in general. “I was like- OMG, I NEED AN AMERICAN CAR!”

After a bad wreck in her 350Z a couple of years ago, Joanne was encouraged to get a new 5.0 when they came out but held off until this year. Joanne bought her Coyote in May and says it’s the best investment she’s ever made. She named the car Brantley and calls him her husband- because not all cars are girls! Joanne worked her butt off to get the car and is so proud to call him her own. She hopes to pass the car on to her daughter in a couple of years when she starts driving and hopes that she’ll get into cars too. Joanne tells her all the time that Brantley is hers and she loves it when her mom hits the gas!

Joanne loves everything about Brantley. “He sounds so sexy and turns heads everywhere I go.” Joanne admits the Coyote still scares her a little bit though, “It’s a lot of power compared to what I use to have.” Joanne plans to leave the car stock for now because she’s still educating herself. American cars are a whole different world for her compared to the imports but Joanne appreciates the compliments and encouragement she receives from other Mustang owners and fans. “I just love the fact that I’m breaking stereotypes. I’m not the typical Asian chick driving the typical Asian car anymore and finally getting to join the big boys!”
